Adam Driver delivers a really incredible performance portraying FBI agent Daniel Jones, in this true story about post 9/11 torture tactics that were used by the United States government, authorized by the Bush administration.
What the United States did to Muslim suspected terrorists at GITMO is largely unknown by the mainstream American society. I have done no homework to back that up but I am 99% sure. I had no idea until this movie and would not know, if not for the work of Daniel Jones and Dianne Feinsteins office.
Two, despicable psychologists, were brought in and approved to torture hundreds of completely innocent Muslims that were suspected of being terrorists. The methods used were nothing short of inhumane and truly horrific. On top of that, it was later concluded these individuals were all innocent. I think it is easy to sit back and say “they deserved it” even if they were guilty, but with any compassion and watching this movie I think you change your tune.
The story telling of this is remarkably powerful. There are truly gut wrenching scenes and provide a lot of feels. It is thought provoking and a master class of acting with an all star cast. This is an absolutely EXCELLENT FREAKING FILM. I hate that it is real but necessary learning and watching. That is a review.
