I WENT TO THE WELL TWICE! Fair Play was really good so I decided to just keep it rolling. I have NO IDEA what IMDB or ROTTEN TOMATOES has this scored as. Honestly. I can see it being like in the 5’s or 40’s or right around where I am at. I have to imagine I am on the higher end, NO SHOT its sniffing 8’s But I could be wrong.
Look, I thought this movie was really fun. A series of very artistic murders, all across Europe have people frustrated. All the murders are gruesome and have some type of artistic vibe attached to them. Usually couples too. They are in different countries too. It takes the dad of one of the victims, who finally starts to piece things together to realize these killings are related and must be the same person. After a while, police do let him help (he is a detective himself so he’s not just some random bum) but no way would like multiple countries top agencies tracking a series killer just let him in on everything BUT WHO CARES SHUT UP. He seems to be the smartest and most determined.
They stumble upon this young couple touring the continent. The dad is determined it is this very kind, sincere couple that is very innocent looking. He is the only one. Another character gets introduced who is SKETCHY as hell. As a viewer you are wondering what the fuck is going on.
Then the curveballs start getting thrown. Just curve after curve and at this point you’re like this movie is absolutely out of its mind. I have a blast watching it. And then the ending is just so absurd but like not in a bad way just like yeah ok, this is how this wild ride should end. I have no issue with this score. I cannot wait to see what the others rated it. But TO ME, this just makes it as a REALLY GOOD MOVIE. Mainly because I was entertained the whole time, it was fun, it was interesting and a story that was, if anything, crazy. That is a review. And also some pretty ridiculous things that when ignored make it more fun.
