War movie, taking place in 15th century France and England. Think game of Thrones. Very much in that world. Except this is VERY LOOSELY based on some actual events that either happened or were somewhat similar in the history of France and England.
Timothy Chamalet and Robert Pattinson put on brilliant performances. Chamalet as the newly anointed young King of England. Pattinson the somewhat older and cockier son of the king of France. The movie centers around a false rumor that France has sent an assassin to kill the newly crowned king Chamalet, after his son and brother both decease.
The response is to go into battle as retaliation for the attempt. So we have a young king, with zero experience in battle, leading a group of men into a war they are out numbered in, on enemy soil.
It is a pretty gutsy performance. This war, battling against Pattinson who plays a character who is absolutely insane, so well, is the climax of the film. The visuals from the movie were really well done. I was really interested the whole time. The acting was superb. And sometimes I have a beef with this old time movies where they feel so unreal. The people in the films are too clean or they talk like they are in the year 2000. Not this one. They nail it.
I think this is a EXCELLENT FUCKING FILM. Just cracked it. That is a review.
