This might be the first time I went in to the scoring system and got it COMPLETELY wrong. I did not expect this score to be this high. AT all. Honestly I did not think it would crack 6. Not bad though, for 180 reviews so far, first one that totally threw me off. Eye test and score not the same.
This movie IS right up my alley. I love futuristic movies, advanced technology, world ending type movies. This is that.
John David Washington. He is an actor that I really enjoy. He is going to be getting some big roles for many years. He is great. He leads this movie, and is the only recognizable person in the film. Unless you are a loony like me and watch everything there are a couple HEY THAT GUY’s.
Essentially it is the future and there is a major AI war happening. The fate of humanity is in limbo. The United States is still a place but we are led to believe it is much larger like countries combined and same with Asia. It seems to be us vs them. The asian side dropped a massive bomb on LA destroying it. They are also working on their latest weapon of mass destruction and the movie is based on JDW’s work undercover to find out what it is and how to stop it. He is living in Asia married to a local. But his cover gets blown as unexpectedly the USA invades and attacks and shows up to his spot. This sets up a chain of events where he loses his wife who did not know he was undercover and him going back to the states.
He returns later as he is the only one in America that knows where or how to get to this thing. Meanwhile, side note, there are humans, robots and things that are combos. AI is very advanced. The rest of the movie is JDW getting back to Asia, looking for this weapon and its creator who we only have a nickname for and his struggle between the family and people he loved and also his forced civic duty to his country.
It is definitely interesting and has great visuals and a solid story line. Nothing that will blow you away but pretty good. This is a SOLID FILM on the higher end, I would suspect others would have this higher. That is a review.
