THE COVENANT: 8.3

Look there are two things in movies that I ABSOLUTELY love. One is a true story. Anything based on a true story just gets me going knowing that this actually happened. And two, is Jake Gyllenhaal. I mean what a fucking actor. Yet to see him in a bad movie. This was the definition of an excellent fucking film. The acting was great. The visuals of Afghanistan and Taliban fighting were incredible. You are on the edge of your seat the whole time. You are totally in your feels at the end when you see what occurred and then remind yourself THIS happened. Insanely interesting. I think you have to pay for this movie right now on streaming, but do it, worth every single penny. I think I have seen just about every single movie based on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan but I have never seen it portrayed from THIS perspective, which is really hard to do, seeing as there are so many movies in this niche. FYI: its not as “war movie” as you think. Very little of that actually. So don’t pass on it thinking “oh I don’t want to watch a war movie”. Focus is not on the war. And THAT is a review.
