I will never not watch a Matthew McConaughey movie. To me the guy is a hall of fame actor, first ballot. I do not even know if this movie was in theaters. But being the degenerate I am, I found it. And how glad I am I did. What a delight. And I have watched it multiple times. It is a certified REALLY GOOD MOVIE.
McConaughey’s character Mud, is stumbled upon living like a homeless guy up in the trees of this little marsh island somewhere in the south. But Mud is not homeless. He’s just in a uhh little trouble. Mud has done somethings and some people are after him. And he desperately needs the help of these two local boys. He needs help getting letters to his girlfriend who seems to be the town bike (Reese Witherspoon) while keeping a low profile from the police. Mud builds a bond with the boys as they bring him materials to fix a boat, food, water basic living essentials. In return he teaches the boys lessons on manhood. Mud is a good guy with a troubled past and a heart that is in love. Behind the scenes, the main boy comes from a family that is completely broken. The kid sees his parents falling apart and he wants to believe in love, and Mud acts his mentor in this area. Making sure he never does give up on the one he loves.
This is just a really enjoyable movie, with some per usual McConaughey HEY HEY HEY good acting, a really actually well done love story that actually tugs at your heart strings as relationships are developed and hearts are broken and repaired and feels galore. We also get a pretty solid shoot out scene. This movie will make you maybe wonder how far you would go for love (for Reese Witherspoons love, I think a lot of us would be acting like Mud in this movie) and will make your heart feel good with a solid message. Give this movie a spin, add it to the list. That is a review.
