DEFIANCE: 6.8

True story and World War 2 and Daniel Craig. Not a bad trio!

Pretty wild story about a trio of brothers in a part of Russia that is occupied by the Nazis (now Belarus) who hide and set up an encampment and society out in the woods. They welcome all Jews as news spreads fast about the brothers and the little village they have established in the woods.

They assign roles, they fight, they ration, they survive, for TWO years in these woods through unspeakable hunger and sickness. This movie like all WW2 movies really show the power of the human spirit.

Really SOLID FILM, it does drag in a lot of scenes because they throw in little love stories. That is the only thing keeping it from a 7. But it does a good enough job showing the desperate situation and tough decision making in such dire times. AGAIN, true story about what ends up being 1,200 Jews hiding in this forest from the Nazis and SURVIVING for multiple years. All because of 3 brothers. Worth a watch. Absolutely. That is a review.
