BARBIE: 9

Remember, I go through 7 criteria, give each an independent score, then add them all up and divide by 7 to get my scores. It has amazed me so far, how the number it ends up being, is kind of exactly what I felt like it was afterwards. I think that’s kudos to me on a great and balanced system. With that being said, this is the perfect score for this movie. It was an OUTSTANDING MASTERPIECE. And just sneaks into that top tier category. But belongs there, no doubt.

Try to break it down. I enjoyed this movie so much. Gave it a 9.5 for enjoyment. I was not bored for one second. It was really really funny. Like I laughed out loud multiple times throughout. Will Ferrell and Ryan Gosling have some just big time LOL moments and one liners. But so many of the scenes were. The visuals were really stunning, just amazing colors and mixes between reality worlds and a fake world it was just really cool.

If you are not some MAGA asshole, you really appreciated the movies efforts as well to just incorporate people. Made you feel somewhat good and proud not only of the cast and everyone involved but slightly for America. There was a Barbie represented by a handicapped girl in a wheelchair (I went with a young woman who is confined to a wheelchair, imagine how she felt being represented), black, asian, white, male, female and trans. But none of these were shoved in your face. You just had to notice it and appreciate it how neat it was to see. Good for this movie for that bravery and effort.

Then there is the thought provoking and feels element. No man knows what being a woman feels like. Vice versa. But we know that there are some major issues with gender roles and equality in America. And there is no better way to bring those to light than to discuss them. And that can be SO hard. This film did SUCH a good job of exposing in a way that did not make me as a man feel bad, which I think is important when educated someone who may not understand. It opened my eyes in a way that was so non attacking. There were some scenes that touched your heart in a sad way and some in a really happy way. Overall it took a really complex issue, and an issue that should be discussed and did it in such a masterful way. I cannot emphasize that enough.

The acting of Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie in particular. To take these roles. And completely tear down the gender identity bullshit and stereotypes of America ( in one scene Gosling gets kissed on cheek by two other Kens as they dance and it was hilarious), was nothing short of fucking awesome. I hope they win a lot of awards.

This is a movie where if you go in with a bad attitude, you are locked into all of your ideologies you are some MAGA person just don’t go. If you are sensitive to things that are not what you are used to seeing or how you think they should be, don’t go. If you are like the rest of us and love seeing the world grow and want the world full of people and our country full of people to be equal and represented equally, ALL people, you will love this movie, because underneath the great visuals and hilarious dialogue, that is the message. AND THAT, is a very long review. That movie rocked.
