BJ Novak is a really talented dude. He has written probably the funniest Office episodes so obviously he’s a comedy genius but he goes a different path in this movie. It is a really unique movie. It is a comedy but also a drama. but also something in between.
BJ Novaks character is a single guy living the life of a single New York City guy with he gets a call from a guy in Texas saying he has to get down to Texas , that his girlfriend is dead. He repeatedly says he does not have a gf and soon realizes its a girl he hooked up with a few times. Her family THINKS he’s the boyfriend. The movie then follows him to Texas where he has never been and is polar opposite of his life, a small town. He decides to do a podcast about the killing for his career, and along the way to solving this unsolved murder he learns a ton about himself, Texas, the family and lifestyle.
Ashton Kutcher makes an appearance as well as the actor who played the lead detective in narcos season 1. Issa Rae as well is great as usual. Great cast. Lots of laughs. Some wholesome moments as well. In this mashup of mystery and laughs, you’ll be glad you watched it. This is a REALLY GOOD MOVIE. That is a review.
