This is in my opinion, without a doubt Martin Scorsese’s best film. This movie is the ultimate rewatchable. It is share with your new fling or gf and she will love it. You forget the great ness of it so fuck it watch it.
Before Scorsese became too obsessed with Leo he came out with this absolute gem. All star cast of Matt Damon, Leo D, Mark Wahlberg, a HEY THAT GIRL and a few other HEY THAT GUYS.. oh yeah, an EXCELLENT Jack Nicholson.
Nicholson is a Boston mob boss. He is being tracked down hard by the Boston State Department. Run by Wahlberg and the HEY THAT GUY. Oh yeah, Alec Baldwin too! He is the police chief. Side note, great banter between Wahlberg all movie, especially with Baldwin. See, all star cast.
The State dept puts Leo in VERY undercover to work his way into Jacks crew. He eventually does. This they think will bring him down finally. Unfortunately, Jack has an informant on the inside of the state department. The whole film is brilliantly done, just none stop cat and mouse between Damon, the rat working for the police and Leo the cop who is the rat inside Jacks mob.
This movie is entertaining non stop. Great dialogue, funny as hell lines, never know which way its gonna go, close calls, tense scenes, and an ending that will have you be like HUH???? if you were paying attention you probably can figure it out but I googled to make sure.
This is a very high end EXCELLENT FUCKING MOVIE. Great script, everyone was in their zone, only thing I think holding it back from a 9 was I couldn’t give it a 10 for thought provoking or visuals. But still, 8.6 is a god damn great score. And a god damn excellent movie. That is a review.
